Real Estate Investments

The Real Estate Investments Unit invests across a variety of asset types, sectors and geographies. Asset types include:

  • Green field (new -build development projects)
  • Brown field (distressed or part-completed assets)
  • Existing completed dry assets.

Investments will be implemented in several strategic geographies reaching from Europe to North and South Asia. In addition to investing and providing commercial and technical expertise, Al Salam Bank sources projects which have the potential to generate solid risk adjusted returns for clients/investors, whilst at the same time contributing responsibly to the social and economic well-being of the community.

Current Projects

Kingdom of Bahrain
ASBB recently announced the establishment of a new real estate investment and development Company that will conduct most of the Bank's strategic property investments in Bahrain. With an aspiration to build and develop the company's portfolio in Bahrain and beyond, the new real-estate entity will strive to identify investment opportunities and deliver high-quality projects that will be sensitive to their surroundings and ultimately benefit the community. The company has already begun working on four strategic projects across Bahrain.

Malaysia
In its first real estate investment outside Bahrain, the Bank has partnered with Malaysian-based CIMB Real Estate Sdn Bhd, E&O Property Development Berhad and Mapletree Dextra Pte of Singapore, to develop seafront villa components of the Seri Tanjung Pinang development on Penang Island. At 980 acres, Seri Tanjung Pinang is reputed to be the largest land reclamation waterfront project undertaken to date in Malaysia.

In the pipeline
Al Salam is also currently poised to make significant investments in major green field real estate development projects mainly in the Asia Pacific region.
